Demonstrate effective professional communication to achieve common understanding as an individual or in group settings.
This video was created for LIS 708, Evidence-based Planning, Management, and Decision Making. We chose a book that represented one of the principles or themes to be explored in the class, and created a short video presentation discussing the book with that context in mind. I looked at Enlightenment Now, by Steven Pinker, as an example of the use of evidence to present an argument or viewpoint. In this presentation, I discuss what I see as some of the weaknesses of Pinker’s spirited defense of the impact and continuing relevance of Enlightenment era values on our modern age.
